Our automotive industry (and ALL of US) is in such denial even though they/we tend to espouse green credentials through EV's and other schemes. This charade will be one of the many atrocities that destroy a human habitable world. Though the Earth does not care, WE as the dominant species should! To drive is to massively pollute! To massivally pollute now brings us into the seventh great extinction of world history.
