- The Talmadge Memorial cable-stayed bridge was completed in 1991 and replaced the old cantilever truss bridge. This bridge has 4 lanes of vehicular traffic with a main span of 335 meters (1100 feet) and a total length of 3.06 kilometers (1.9 miles). There is a vertical navigational clearance for ships of 56.4 meters (185 feet) between it and the Savannah River which it spans.
