Measles Virus, Virions, tuberculars
- This illustration is of a spherical-shaped measles virus particle that is adorned with glycoprotein tubercles. The maroon colored tuberculars are known as H-proteins (hemagglutinin). The F-protein is responsible for fusion of the virus and host cell membranes, viral penetration, and hemolysis. Those colorized gray tuberculars are the H-protein and are responsible for the binding of virions to cells.
