McDonnell Douglas YC-15, STOL, JT8D-17, JT8D
- This unique aircraft was McDonnell Douglas' answer to the RFP by the U.S. Air Force's Advanced Medium STOL Transport (AMST) competition. This RFP was to replace the C-130 Hercules as the USAF's standard STOL tactical transport. The YC-15's basic design carried over as the successful C-17 Globemaster III. It competed against the Boeing YC-14 for this new airlifter role.
