- This frog is native to South America and has been introduced to other tropical and subtropical ranges. This is a a large poisonous predator that has parotid glands behind the eyes that extend down to the shoulders and secrete enough poison to kill a dog or cat when the toad is eaten. If the secretion is touched by humans it will burn the eyes and skin. It is a large, terrestrial true toad.
