Lookdown Jack, (Selene vomer), Perciformes, Carangidae
- The Lookdown Jack is one of the more skitish and strange looking fish in the ocean. They are extremely skinny from the front so they usually look a lot bigger and heavier than they really are. This fish can be found from Maine all the way to Uruguay. For the most part they live in shallow coastal waters over sand or mud. The young fish of this species have long filaments coming off the first dorsal spine of the dorsal fin that are later lost as they mature.
