Title:: Collapsed Section of the Bridge, Loma Prieta Earthquake (1989), San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, 1980s; This is the evening of the earthquake October 17 1989. This is the collapsed Section of the Bay Bridge from the Loma Prieta Earthquake of 1989. I was living in the city of San Francisco at the time and as I felt the shaking begin the first thing I dashed for was my camera and made it outdoors before the earthquake had stopped shaking. For three days I turned into an animal covering some of the craziness that resulted from this tectonic shift.
Four days later this image made it into the opening double page spread in Time Magazine. The support volunteer for my fire dept wants to remind everyone to be aware and prepared for emergencies like this and others.
