- CN: 22520
LN: 47 First flight: 10/03/1983 History: 30/03/1983 Air Canada ACA C-GAUN Stored 01/01/08 at Mojave MHV This jet has a claim to fame as the "Gimli Glider" when it exhausted its fuel supply and had to glide approximately 200 kilometers (125 miles) to find an abandoned military airport in which to make an emergency landing at Gimli, Manitoba. The plane was carrying 61 passengers and eight crew members. Remarkably the Captain was able to glide in for a safe landing inspite of a group of 150 people that were on the landing strip for go-cart races. Captain Robert Pearson was able to avoid any casualties in this unpowered safe landing. This aircraft was retired in January 2010
