My dear friend Jeremiah, Thank you, 1989, Radio Dish Antenna, VLA, June 1989
- This radio observatory consists of 27 radio antennas on rails in a Y-shaped configuration. The position of this array can vary and the data from the 27 antennas is combined electronically providing a resolution much greater than would be physically possible in one antenna. The maximum separation can be up to 36 kilometers.
Built: 1973 - 1980 Diameter of each radio dish: 27 x 25 meters Angular resolution: 0.05 to 700 arcsec Elevation: 2124 meters (6970 feet) above sea level
- Keywords:
-
Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA), National Radio Astronomy Observatory, Plains of San Agustin, Socorro County, New-Mexico, New Mexico, Structure, Wernher Krutein, Vern, Life, History, Historical, Archives
