This radio observatory consists of 27 radio antennas on rails in a Y-shaped configuration. The position of this array can vary and the data from the 27 antennas is combined electronically providing a resolution much greater than would be physically possible in one antenna. The maximum separation can be up to 36 kilometers.

Diameter of each radio dish: 27 x 25 meters
Angular resolution: 0.05 to 700 arcsec
Elevation: 2124 meters (6970 feet) above sea level
