The name of this town was changed to Zagorsk named after a communist party boss as a reward in the 1930's. The town now is known again as by its original name of Sergiev Posad. It took over six centuries to build the monastery and churches. It is now a major tourist attraction and a working Russian Orthodox church with parishioners coming each week & on holy days.
