Title:
United States Coast Guard Cutter Mustang (WPB 1310), Island Class Patrol Boat, Seward, USCG
This cutter was built by Bollinger Machine Shop and Shipyard, Inc. in Lockport, Louisiana and launched in September 1986. Mustang was the 10th Island Class Patrol Boat to be built and the first to serve in the Pacific Ocean. Mustang was named after Mustang Island off the coast of Corpus Christi, Texas. In November 1986, Mustang relieved the Coast Guard Cutter Cape Jellison as the Coast Guard?s northern most patrol boat. Every year, Mustang spends roughly 150 days at sea conducting its missions. Mustang is one of six Island Class Patrol Boats in Alaska and one of the three that protect and patrol the Valdez Marine Oil Terminal in Port Valdez.
