Fate: Sank on 8/03/1968 approximately 1,560 nautical miles (2,890 km) northwest of Oahu Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean with all hands - 98 crewmen perished
Status: Partially recovered in covert salvage operation by the CIA in 1974 called Project Azorian
Class: Golf-II class ballistic missile submarine
Displacement: 2,700 long tons (2,743 tons) submerged

The taking of K-129 is an incredible book by Josh Dean. I highly recommend reading this true story of almost unbelievable espionage and deception.
