This memorial complex was created to honor the Russian soldiers that fell in the battles against the German army in the WWII. More specifically it paid homage to the russian soldiers that fell in the taking of Berlin, It is located at 17 June Street. Built with the approval of the allies, it was located in West Berlin, thus creating a problem for soviet visitation during the cold war. Special permissions were granted by the western allies to allow limited access to the Russian.
