Baileys Harbor Lower Rangelight, Door County, Green Bay Peninsula, Wisconsin, Lake Michigan, Great Lakes
- The lower range light and the upper range light, separated by 950 feet, were built by the U.S. Lighthouse Service in 1869. The upper range light, which stands fifteen feet taller than the lower tower, also served as the resident for the keeper. When aligned, the lights permitted vessels to enter the harbor on a course that avoided dangerous hidden reefs near the harbor entrance. The lights were originally fueled by lard or whale oil, before they were converted to kerosene and then acetylene gas. In the early 1930s the lights were converted to electricity and then inactivated in 1969 when a modern range light was built closer to the shoreline.
This set of two range lights is situated in Baileys Harbor Ridges Park just north of Baileys Harbor.
