- This dam is a concrete gravity dam. It is situated on the upper San Joaquin River in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Fresno County and Madera County. It was completed in 1942 and forms Millerton Lake which has a storage capacity is 520,500 acre?feet for irrigating the San Joaquin Valley, which is distributed by the Madera- and Friant-Kern-Canals.
