Notes: This newt is commonly found near water in redwood forests and oak woodlands of California. It eats insects, insect eggs, worms and ever other salamander larva. It is mildly poisenous, and gives out a bitter taste to potential predators. They are active during daylight hours which is unusual for most salamanders.
